I uncovered it discreetly in the 1980's to sit and take in the wonderful view along the valley during lunch breaks from working on the site and tramway which ended about there at its greatest extent. Of course that view is lost now with all those trees grown up, gulping down avidly some of the CO2 we are busy spewing forth. Its not entirely clear whether removing trees only on land associated with the S&D trackbed would suffice to regain that view but I suspect not. It was wonderful though.

Has anyone else noticed the rather nice wagon starting bar driven in near there ? Its beaky working end profile is slightly beat out of shape during insertion but otherwise reckon could be drawn forth like Excalibur to operate once more if Midford goods yard ever got up and walked again with local wagonload traffic.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00346120168038544874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27589444.post-14401357582629845992011-09-05T09:49:02.147+01:002011-09-05T09:49:02.147+01:00walked from wellow station to midford goods yard a...walked from wellow station to midford goods yard and back yesterday with the other half. good to see you've uncovered the base of the down side pway hut at the point where the pole route changed sides.

nickAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
