Two contasting shots of Masbury, the top one (courtesy Jim Type, copyright C L Caddy Collection), from the line in its heyday, the second picture from a few weeks ago.
It always seemed a little unfair that Masbury had the lovely station house, despite being a halt for a tiny village. How useful that big building would have been at Midsomer Norton - or indeed Midford!
Masbury was the summit of the line and must have been an incredible location in the 50s on a summer Saturday as heavy expresses breated the summit. All is quiet now, but Masbury's real glory days lie ahead of it!
