get stoking!
Julian Jefferson has just added a neat graphic to the Facebook Masbury page, which will show how much has been collected towards purchase of the station.
Although it looks like it's set at zero it is just off first base, but we've all got a lot to do over the next four months to get all that cash in!
I was at Midford today chatting to our new Press and Publicity Officer who has excellent contacts in the media - and hopefully the first fruits of that will be visible soon. Until the end of September I'll be pretty much concentrating on the Masbury Appeal as it's so important to the future of the S&D.

S&D telegraph no 39
Midsomer Norton's excellent Telegraph (no 39) has just arrived. It's to the usual very high standard and shows their new DMU on the cover. This is always an excellent read and doesn't have pages of adverts to reduce the content!
Sad news is that Julian Jefferson is stepping down as editor. It's Julian's design skills that have really given the Telegraph its classy image, as well as his excellent photos. Hopefully he'll still be submitting! I first met Julian on a sponsored S&D walk many years ago starting at Combe Down and ending at Midford, before walking back to the start point. He's always been very hands on (working with the Sunday gang for example) as well as creative.
There is of course still a vacancy at the New S&D for a magazine editor! We need somenoe who can bring a 24 page magazine together twice a year, mainly so that distant members (and we do have members all over the world) get something for their membership fee. You'll have a real opportunity to influence the look and feel of the New S&D. You'll get loads of support from the existing management team, as well as plenty of copy from me!
If you are interested (and this does include you Julian!) please email leysiner@aol.com

a link at last!!!!
Dear old Midsomer Norton have now relented and have included a direct link to this blog from their website.
To find it go to their website, click on the links page, then click on the links tab (in red) at the top and you're here!
A little obscure perhaps but I'll be buying Julian a drink when I see him next!

namecheck!
This has always been first and foremost a community site for the Trust at Midsomer Norton, even though in recent months it's expanded its range somewhat.
But for regular volunteers at MN there is now the extra kudos of having indexed tags so you see or read about yourselves quickly and easily via the sidebar!
Hopefully in future years this will be expanded to cover Gartell, Shillingstone and the 'New'.

barbecue
Phil Jones (No 10 driver) and Julian Jefferson (Telegraph Editor) are press ganged into making the new barbecue - just an hour before opening Saturday evening!
A view from behind the DJ decks and into the new gazebo - Wulfric on iPod.
Not so quiet evening as the first bars of Enter Shikari's 'Sorry You're Not a Winner' reverberate around the patio.
The gathering around the barbecue.
All in all the Midsummer at Midsomer weekend was a resounding success, with many new members joining and a few more volunteers. Brake van rides were extremely popular, as were the cream teas up in the catering coach. Special thanks to Ann Cook and Debs Hitchins (catering), Dave and Hermione (barbecue), Phil Jones (brake van rides), John Rideout (signalbox), Paul Mitchell (shop) and John Bridges (tombola), plus many others who gave up part of all of the weekend to introduce our lovely line to the wider public.
